Urban Kaleidoscope
This presents a fragmented view of an urban metropolis city. Representative imagery of common elements from the city of Karachi, are cropped sporadically to convey the chaos, lack of urban planning wreaks. The works are specifically about how the climate crisis is further exacerbated in ill-planned areas. It also references land mafias and land reclamation as a means to further the agendas of urban developers.

Description
Samar F. Zia is a London-based artist and art writer whose practice delves into the fascinating intersection between nature and technology. Her artistic journey began in 2009 with an exploration of human anatomy versus human dignity, gradually evolving to encompass broader inquiries into interconnected aspects of nature, such as land reclamation, the sea, animals, and biotechnology.
Zia’s artistic endeavours extend beyond her own practice. She freelances as an art critic, contributing exhibition reviews to various publications in Pakistan. She graduated with Distinction in BFA from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, Karachi, and holds an MA FA from Central Saint Martins, London. Zia is the Events Curator at her alma mater, UAL’s Alumni of Colour Association (AoCA). Additionally, she contributes to the Fitzrovia Community Centre in London, where she has been an artist-in-residence and holds the position of Trustee at the Fitzrovia Chapel. Her expertise also encompasses curatorial work, having independently curated exhibitions in London and serving as an exhibition guide at the Hayward Gallery. Zia has shared her knowledge and passion for art as visiting faculty at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and as a teacher at Art Academy London.

Her thought-provoking compositions challenge conventional boundaries and narratives, inviting viewers to contemplate the pressing issues of our time through the lens of art.
